To avoid gatherings, night curfew on Day 1 too

The night curfew imposed across the city by Delhi government on New Year’s Eve to avoid large gatherings will remain in force from 11pm on January 1 to 6am on January 2.

DDA to sell 215 flats at Rs 2 crore each

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is all set to launch its Housing Scheme 2021 on Saturday and on offer are total 1,354 flats of different categories. These also include the costliest flats DDA has ever sold—Rs 2.1 crore for a three-bedroom Higher Income Group (HIG) flat in Jasola.

‘Very poor’ air days ahead, step up action: CPCB

Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Thursday reviewed air quality and meteorological conditions expected in the New Year and stated that the it was likely to remain “very poor” for the next few days. “Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), state pollution control boards of NCR and various central and state agencies have been requested to take effective steps to control pollution immediately,” said CPCB.

DU unable to fill chunk of seats reserved for poor

As Delhi University completed its undergraduate admissions, there is one concern among colleges. They have not been able to fill the seats reserved for aspirants under the Economically Weaker Section category. Last year, DU implemented the 15% reservation for this section and added another 10% to the category this year.

Delhi had 192 ‘good air’ days due to lockdown

All attention was focused only on the insidious coronavirus during the passing year, so not many realised that in 2020, Delhi enjoyed the most good-air days of the past three years. There were 192 days when the PM2.5 level was below the National Ambient Air Quality Standard of 60 micrograms per cubic metre. In contrast, there were just 120 such days in 2018 and 145 in 2019, according to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the forecasting body under the Union ministry of earth sciences.

'Transplant 80% of trees affected by project'

A minimum of 80% of the trees affected by a development or construction project will have to be transplanted while 80% of the transplanted trees must survive, states Delhi government’s Tree Transplantation Policy 2020, notified on Wednesday. A compensatory plantation of 10 saplings for each tree will also continue.
