There hasn’t been a single kidney transplant operation at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in the past month because there aren’t enough beds for new patients seeking the life-saving procedure. Among India’s pioneering hospitals for kidney transplants, AIIMS is also one of the few government institutions in the capital offering transplant opportunities to poor patients.
