
Three years ago, the Delhi-Noida-Delhi Expressway, more popular as DND, was a high-speed pleasure strip for motorists. But after the toll regime was removed, it has become a common thoroughfare — and a death trap because of the lack of regulation of speed and lane norms. Even commercial vehicles, no longer deterred by the usage toll, use it to reach south Delhi from Noida and Ghaziabad. Though Delhi Police and the municipal tax collectors have now set up checkpoints there, there is no permanent solution to the traffic mess in sight.
