Now, fake news will get you booked under IT Act

After monitoring social media for over a fortnight during the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act, Delhi Police has started a crackdown on the accounts and handles of around 100 people who allegedly spread fake news, fuelled violence and instigated the rioters. For the first time, FIRs under Information Technology Act are going to be registered, police said.
