Crowded market in east Delhi is in for a refresh

The redevelopment plan for Gandhi Nagar market, which includes improving roads, drainage system, parking facilities, waste management, and public amenities, will be presented for administrative and expenditure approval. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 162 crore, was announced as part of the Delhi government's long-term growth initiatives. Initially, the Department of Industries was responsible for implementing the plan, but it was decided that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) would take over as the market falls within its jurisdiction. The MCD will appoint a project management consultant for planning and execution.
