How Delhi cops upped ante in fight against drugs

The first half of 2023 in Delhi saw a significant increase in cases registered under the NDPS Act, indicating a stronger crackdown on drug trafficking. Data shows a 15.7% rise in cases compared to the same period last year, along with a 21% increase in arrests of drug traffickers. The police attributed these numbers to factors such as identifying hotspots, conducting regular raids, and carrying out operations like "Operation Kavach." They also discovered over 64 hotspots where narcotics were being sold and seized drugs during raids. The police are now focused on attaching the properties of drug traffickers as proceeds of crime.
