LEDs to replace 59k sodium vapour lights on Delhi roads

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has approved a proposal to replace over 59,000 high-pressure sodium vapour lights with energy-efficient LED lights on arterial city roads. The maintenance of these lights is currently the responsibility of the Public Works Department. The proposal states that by replacing the sodium lights with LEDs, the energy bills would be reduced by 50%. Additionally, the MCD House meeting also passed a proposal for the redevelopment of major roads and other improvements. The implementation of compensatory regulatory charges and granting permission to private schools were postponed.
